Innovation, attention to the environment and excellence in service for a rail mobility that looks to the future.
Italo NTV confirms its leadership in sustainable rail mobility and service excellence, as highlighted by the 2023 Sustainability Report. This document reflects the company's contribution to sustainable growth and its commitment to increasingly ambitious goals. Since its foundation, Italo has placed respect and protection of the environment at the center of its strategy, adopting innovative and sustainable solutions for a better future.
Sustainability and Innovation for a Green Future
The company has chosen latest-generation trains and less energy-intensive production processes, significantly reducing its environmental impact. In 2023, Italo achieved a 10.5% reduction in waste production compared to 2022, with 96% sent for recovery and 60% separated. These results demonstrate the commitment to a circular economy and responsible management of resources.
Italo continues to monitor its emissions, expanding the value chain calculations with a particular focus on Scope 3 emissions. The goal is to identify reduction opportunities and address climate change with concrete solutions.
Excellence in Service and Passenger Health
Dedication to passengers has earned Italo first place in the “Italy's Best Customer Services 2023/2024” ranking. Safety is a top priority: since 2015, Italo has been the first railway operator in Italy to install two defibrillators on each train, making the fleet entirely “cardioprotected”. Furthermore, in 2021, Italo became the first railway operator in the world to install HEPA filters on board, improving air quality and ensuring a safe environment for passengers and staff.
Prestigious Partnerships and Quality Offering
Italo stands out for its constant search for prestigious collaborations, offering top-quality products both in stations and on trains. Club lounges and executive lounges welcome travellers with exclusive services, while on board trains the experience is enriched by excellent solutions, combining comfort and luxury.
Governance and Sustainable Future
All the company's activities, actions and initiatives are possible thanks to the presence of a Governance that is attentive to every aspect of sustainability and that constitutes a fundamental support in all decision-making processes. "We believe that sustainability is essential to create shared value and ensure a better future and fair growth for Italy and local communities" says Gianbattista La Rocca, CEO of Italo. "For the future, we have decided to commit to responsible management of the impacts of our activity on the entire value chain, in harmony with the European Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and we are also working to be ready, from 2025, for the entry into force of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)".
With a forward-looking vision, the company continues to redefine the standards of rail mobility, actively contributing to the well-being of communities and the protection of the planet.
