The 19th Venice International Architecture Exhibition, titled Intelligence. Natural. Artificial. Collective, will be held at the Giardini, the Arsenale, and Forte Marghera. Curated by Carlo Ratti, the exhibition addresses the role of architecture in responding to climate change, moving from mitigation to adaptation. Ratti argues that architecture must embrace all forms of intelligence—natural, artificial, and collective—to create a more adaptable built environment. With over 750 contributors, including architects, artists, scientists, and philosophers, Intelligens is a dynamic laboratory of ideas. It adopts a bottom-up curatorial approach, blending generational and disciplinary perspectives. The exhibition is divided into three thematic zones: Natural Intelligence, Artificial intelligence And Collective Intelligence, concluding with the provocative "Out" section, which explores the role of space exploration in addressing global challenges. Venice itself becomes a "living laboratory," with installations throughout the city and collaborations with global institutions such as COP30, the Baukultur Alliance, and the Soft Power Club. The exhibition also features 66 national pavilions, including newcomers from Azerbaijan, Oman, Qatar, and Togo, while the Italian Pavilion, curated by Guendalina Salimei, explores the intelligence of the sea. Intelligens reimagines architecture as a collaborative, ethical, and adaptive force necessary to shape the future.
